A circular saw makes straight cuts in wood and panel materials. A jigsaw is suitable for curved cuts. A reciprocating saw (sabresaw) is for demolition work and cutting thick materials. A miter saw provides precise angle and cross cuts.

Models with the letter Z (e.g., DHP486Z) are tools only, without a battery or charger. If you already have a battery for the same platform, this is the most cost-effective choice. Sets include batteries, a charger, and often a Makpac case.

Makita tools have a 3-year warranty if registered in the MyMakita portal within 4 weeks of purchase. Batteries, chargers, and accessories are not covered by the extended warranty.
