A cordless drill is suitable for drilling into wood and metal and for driving screws. An impact drill also features an impact mode, which can be used to drill into brick and concrete. For frequent concrete drilling, choose a rotary hammer.

Compare the maximum torque (Nm): up to 60 Nm is sufficient for furniture and light tasks, while 60–150 Nm is suitable for construction. A brushless motor provides longer run time on a single battery charge.

Models with the letter Z (e.g., DHP486Z) are tools only, without a battery and charger. If you already have a battery from the same platform, this is the most cost-effective option. Sets include batteries, a charger, and often a Makpac case.

Makita tools come with a 3-year warranty if you register them in the MyMakita portal within 4 weeks of purchase. Batteries, chargers, and accessories are not covered by the extended warranty.
